4 Ways to Style your Front Entry Console Table

Happy November! It is the time to give thanks, watch football, and eat! For those that love to decorate for the holidays, it is time to take away those ghosts, bats, spiders, and jack-o-lanterns, and set up the Fall decorations.

If you are like me, then you tend to collect new pieces each year. Over time all those decorations pile up and we get to reuse them in different ways.

Today, I am going to show you 4 different ways that you can style your front entry console table with using the same staple items as well as incorporating your Fall decor.

Get materials together

First, gather all of your items you want to use. Let's start with our basic staple items we have around the house year around. (For this post, I have found product mostly at Target, but also at Jerome's and Old Kings Lane.)This will be the following, plus any others you can think of:

  • Console table

  • baskets

  • lanterns

  • books

  • canisters

  • bowl

  • candle holders

Next, gather together your textiles:

  • accent pillows

  • throw blankets

  • florals

  • area rugs

Lastly, add in the smaller objects and holiday accessories:

  • candles

  • pumpkins/apples/pinecones

  • garland

  • fillers

Option 1

In my last post, I explained the rule of triangles and using odd numbers to decorate with accessories. We will be using the same formula throughout all of the options when styling for the Fall.

  • Here, we are using pumpkins as our main autumn decoration and we have a mixture of patterns and materials. We also want to have different sizes of each so we can add varying heights. To start, we use the orange filler pumpkins in the vase and the white filler ones in the metal tray.

  • Plaid is a big trend for the fall so we include the small and medium sized fabric pumpkins and added them on top of a gold candle holder and in front of old books from around the house.

  • We also have other accent colors that resemble fall, like orange, yellow, grey, and white, placed throughout the shelves.

  • To add in some light, you can use a lamp; however, we found these cute lighted pumpkins that are placed on the bottom and top shelves for balance.

  • Another way to add in some autumn motifs can be through textiles. Accent pillows are one of the best ways and in our example, we use 4 different colors, patterns, and sizes.

  • Don't forget the floor. On the right we use both large and small sized baskets with our cozy accent pillows. Also included is a gray plaid throw blanket to add in color and texture.

  • And on the left, we add a large lantern filled with a neutral candle balanced by the medium sized one on top of the books on the top right of the table.

Option 2

Option 2 gives us a more condensed feeling even though we use all of the same items.

  • Instead of adding floral in a vase to get height, use the faux leaves as a filler in the glass vase for a nature inspired look.

  • Bring both lanterns to the top of the table to add the varying heights on either side but change up what is inside. Instead of the orange candle as in the first option, use the orange filler pumpkins.

  • To save space, we add the smaller basket to the bottom shelf which we can fill with decorative pillows or our cozy throw blanket, and keep the larger basket on the side.

  • Change up the orientation of your books for balance. While laying them down adds an additional shelf, standing them upright adds balance with the different sized pumpkins.

Option 3

In the 3rd option, we see the use of the pumpkins in a different way which brings a lighter look to the setting.

  • We start by bringing back the autumn floral arrangement but instead of the orange pumpkins, use the white filler ones.

  • Balancing on the other side, we use the medium sized white pumpkin with the larger white candle.

  • In this option, you can see that we use the tray differently. Rather than using it as a bowl, show it off as an art piece and stand it vertical instead.

  • To help ground the design, utilize both lanterns on one side of the table and the large basket on the other.

Option 4

For our last front entry option, we bring an almost symmetrical look to the design.

  • We start off by bringing both lanterns up top to one side of the table and balance it with the vase filled with white pumpkins and an autumn floral arrangement on the other side.

  • Instead of placing candles on top of candle holders, use the smaller decorative pumpkins for height and color.

  • Balancing both larger pillows on each side of the 2nd shelf, helps add that symmetrical look.

  • Having one basket on each side but in different heights, adds a slight asymmetrical feel to the space.

There are so many ways that you can rearrange your accessories and the best part, no matter what you like, it will work.
